Analysis of lyrics: Troye Sivan- 'Fools'

     'Fools'
(Troye Sivan)

I am tired of this place, I hope people change
I need time to replace what I gave away
And my hopes, they are high, I must keep them small
Though I try to resist I still want it all

These lyrics suggest that this person this person is trying to 'replace' his heart, he is telling himself that he should not want the thing he wants the most but, he can't help but want more and more of what he desire, which in this case hints that its love. I think it shows that he's hoping that the person he loves will eventually love him back the same way he does.

I see swimming pools and living rooms and aeroplanes
I see a little house on the hill and children's names
I see quiet nights poured over ice and Tanqueray
But everything is shattering and it's my mistake

These lyrics suggests that he imagined himself being with that person and raising a family together, like having a 'little house on the hill' and them being just together overall, but however, he is blaming himself for what is going wrong. It suggests that he wanted to live in a happy way, which is contrast to the theme of the music, which is sad, so it already paints the image that something has gone wrong.

Only fools fall for you, only fools
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall
Only fools fall for you, only fools
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall

The chorus suggests that he is calling himself a 'fool', because he loves this person, that disappointed him and he believes that 'only fools fall for you' do all the things he did, like believe in the other person. It suggests that he is so easily swayed and believes everything about this person but, he should've seen what the conclusion would be but, since he didn't see it, he labelled himself a 'fool'.

Oh, our lives don't collide, I'm aware of this
The differences and impulses and your obsession with
The little things, you like stick, and I like aerosol
I don't give a f*ck, I'm not giving up, I still want it all

In these lyrics we can see that he is 'aware' that their 'lives don't collide' meaning that he knows they can't be together since they are so different in the choices they make. The second line phrases the difference between them like, 'stick' and 'aerosol', this shows more in-depth of the little things they have in differences such as deodorants, the other person likes to use stick while he likes aerosol, this shows the differences, but at the line at the end suggests that these differences doesn't matter to him and that he wouldn't loose hope because he still wants his dream to come true with that person in it.

Only fools fall for you, only fools fall
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall
Only fools fall for you, only fools fall
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall

Only fools fall for you (only fools)
Only fools do what I do (only fools)
Only fools fall for you (only fools)
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall
(Only fools)
(Only fools)

(Only fools)
(Only fools)

At the end we can still see that he views himself as a 'Fool' even though he still wants to be with the other person, by ending with 'Only fools' it highlights that he has fitted himself as a foolish person that does foolish actions for this person.

The song lyrics I have analysed for this song shows the emotion this person has felt, conflicting within himself stating that even though he is a fool for wanting the other person but, he still wants to be with this person even if they have differences even with little things because he loves the other person enough to not mind them.
